Special support message

Special support message from Toyota Physical and Chemical Research Institute for IPhO2023

Toyota Physical and Chemical Research Institute was established in 1940 by Kiichiro Toyoda, the eldest son of Sakichi Toyoda who invented the automatic loom. We have adhered to the founding philosophy, “establishment of basic scientific principles, independent research, and focus on areas often neglected”, to commit to implementing our research grant projects centered on the development of young researchers and global human resources.

Our institute has endorsed and supported the spirit of the International Science Olympiad. For example, in our “PhD Scholarship Program”, we have added as one of the eligibility requirements those who have passed the primary screening of the International Science Olympiad in Japan.

The International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2023 Japan will be held face-to-face on-site. We would like to express our respect and admiration to those who devoted their great efforts to make the bold decision of making it happen, overcoming the unprecedented corona crisis with international friendship and trust. We hope that high school students from all over the world will be able to compete with each other on the academic skills they have honed on a daily basis, become familiar with Japanese culture, and create wonderful friendships. May all participants enjoy the IPhO2023 Japan.
